Information Marketing isn't a new concept, in fact people use is every day on websites, and in their own Home Based Businesses. Information marketing can be in the form of articles about the business, product reviews, and site promotion.

Information Marketing is not a new concept, in fact people use is every day on websites, and in their own Home Based Businesses. Information marketing can be in the form of articles about the business, product reviews, and site promotion. Because of the power of the internet, people all over have discovered that there are many companies seeking others to help them promote their sites, or products and services.

Home based businesses are plentiful. You only have to type this into any search engine and the results can be staggering. If you are looking to get into information marketing, there are many choices. You could start you own business, providing articles and product reviews freelance. There are many free sites that you can write about whatever you want too, and businesses and other professionals simply go there, read the material you wrote and pay for the article.

Another home based business related to information marketing is information gathering. What this does is you provide a service to people who do not have time to do researching on their own. They come to you, let you know what kind of information they are seeking, and you do the foot work. This could mean that you go through search engines looking for the right information, write the websites down, and then give the company or business the details.

When you are looking for a home based business, whether it is on information marketing or something else, there are some important tips that you should know. One is that if you decide to start your own company and want to put together your own website, be extremely careful. You should really look around for the best deals, because the services offered, while abundant, are not always the same.

One thing about starting a home based business with the help of a website, you have two to three different choices. One choice is putting the website together yourself, but this requires long hours and skills that you may not have. You can find templates for web pages in many different styles. You can also have someone else do it for you, these can save much time and money, but be careful because services and prices are not the same, and some can be down right deceiving.

You could start a home based business that specialized in information marketing, hooking up people with ways to get customers to their site, through Ad Sense, Pay-Per-Click, as well as other advertisement strategies. This will take some education on your part, and you may have to research information on what these are. This can be a really good home business, because not a lot of people know how to draw consumers to their sites.

Another really good legitimate home based business is an information marketing broker. What this is is someone who acts as a middle man, hooking businesses up with independent freelance writers who specialize in writing about things that business people are looking for.

They could be article writers, or product and review writers, as well as many others. You would find these people through freelancing sites, writer groups, etc. You would charge a finders fee, to connect these people, and in most cases, it can make you some good money, because it saves both businesses, as well as writers time and money.

These are some simple but powerful work from home ideas related to information marketing everyone could use.

It’s a smartphone, it’s a tablet, it’s…the Dell Streak! Streaking onto AT&T’s network Friday, Dell’s Android-powered entrant into the mobile market can most aptly be described as a tablet/smartphone hybrid that offers the standard Android phone fare along with 5 incredible inches of screen real-estate.

Dwarfing the likes the of even the HTC EVO 4G (Sprint) and DROID X (Verizon Wireless), the Streak touts an impressive web browsing experience that approaches that of true tablets like Apple’s iPad. Although still stuck on Android 1.6, the Streak is expected to get a serving of Android 2.2 Froyo– the latest version — in the coming months.

We were lucky enough to be able to spend some time with the Streak [video at right], and while we aren’t sure the Streak is right for everyone, we certainly understand the appeal of having a veritable tablet computer in your pocket (just be sure you’re not wearing your skinny jeans).

If you work at home and have small children, you know that getting work done may be somewhat difficult. You have deadlines for work, but have two toddlers arguing, or a baby that needs to be fed...so what do you do to make sure everything gets done?

If you work at home and have small children, you know that getting work done may be somewhat difficult. You have deadlines for work, but have two toddlers arguing, or a baby that needs to be fed…so what do you do to make sure everything gets done?

Having a baby while working at home can be challenging. When I first started working from home, my youngest was 2 months old, and was no longer breastfeeding. However, she was in diapers until she was two. You really need to have dedication to both your children and work to get everything accomplished that needs to be. When you have a regular job outside of the home, more than likely you are not presented with this unique situation that you need to care for a baby and run a cash register or sit in a board meeting at the same time.

Although I never had to do it, I would recommend having someone help you out with your younger child while you work. It may seem strange to have a sitter at your house even though you are there, but you do have responsibilities with your job as well. And a sitter can come in maybe just in the mornings, or whatever your busiest time is in the day while you are working for a couple of hours.

Also, I have two kids that are about 12 months apart. Some days are better than others, but sometimes we get arguing over a favorite toy. Here are some tips I recommend in keeping older kids (or toddlers) occupied while you work at home:

Make toys accessible to them. For example, keep a toy bin in your office that they can just grab what they want.

Have crayons and paper accessible to them as well. My kids are a bit older and I have a pretty big box full of “crafty” things that they can use with very little supervision from me (like glue, stickers, scissors, markers, finger paints, glitter – but I don’t recommend letting younger children play with some of this stuff of course).

Go outside – invest in a laptop so you can work outside and let your kids run off some energy!

Working at home with children may be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be. It is important to stay organized, and practically be ready for anything.

Would it be much better if you could work right in the comfort of your own home? Getting hired talent from around the world has contributed to my online success- to my website, my business and other areas of my life.

Would it be much better if you could work right in the comfort of your own home? Getting hired talent from around the world has contributed to my online success- to my website, my business and other areas of my life.

The following are some of the advantages, among many others, having online work brings: giving you freedom to utilize your own time, taking a break anytime you want won’t be a problem as long as you finish your obligations, and providing personal space to be creative without worrying about anything.

When you look for a job online, you will be presented with numerous opportunities and options. It’s uncomplicated to look for a job on the internet when you know where to look. Be sure to assess yourself first before applying for online jobs. You should first and foremost determine what type of skills you possess that can benefit others, and the extent of knowledge you have to be able to successfully perform specific online jobs.

In this article, I will discuss three different websites that are good choices when you wish to begin generating money online from working precisely at home.

First off is Odesk where various types of jobs abound. The site has a huge database and you can find just about any online job here like writing, web design, virtual assistance, data entry and so on. Because it is enormous, I can say that it truly is the most competitive out of all the online work websites that I will discuss. If you’re applying for a job at oDesk, expect that you can find about twenty additional applicants.

It is not that uncomplicated to navigate either, but all it takes is some time to figure out how their whole system works and it will get less difficult. Odesk ranks first among the three sites I will discuss here.

Rentacoder, now known as vWorker, is the second site I will discuss. You will most likely find your first job in this site since, among the three, this site has the least number of people applying for a particular job. With a simple layout, the Rentacoder site undoubtedly is easier to navigate and comprehend. It’s also good that it allows providers to post work of all kinds, so finding work here from home is not that difficult to achieve.

Lastly, Elance.com is an additional web page I would like to discuss. In the past, I would normally hire talent from this site for jobs that I had, but over the past year, I moved away due to poor performances I got from providers there (in my experience) and I found Elance to be extremely difficult to deal with. However, Elance has a good employment structure and has a quite tidy setup. Further, the site also has a huge database since there are lots of people posting different kinds of jobs. Therefore, the probability of a person finding a job would be higher.

What is very good about these sites is that you’re continuously learning and acquiring new abilities with each task you take. If you don’t have any skills of merit, opt for work that you are interested in and learn about it on forums and through research. Patience is the key to success in these sites. You first have to build a good reputation in order for people to trust and hire you. Once you have done that, it will be easier for you to get hired and earn money right in the comfort of your own home.

With global economies spiraling out of control, stock market volatility, banks going bust and talk of imminent recession, businesses and individuals are justifiably a little worried. Whether you're a contractor, freelancer or consultant you are perhaps a little more worried than most as you are more likely to get a tap on the shoulder before any permanent employees see redundancy. However you are no different to anyone else as bills still have to be paid, so what can you do now to stand the best chance of surviving the challenging times ahead? Welcome to our guide on surviving the credit crunch.

Understand and accept what is happening

Most people now believe that we are in for a spell of economic pain and recession, with which comes job losses and falling rates of pay. We’ve been here before and we’ll get through it again so accept and fight your way past it.

Timing can be everything

A major supplier to the construction industry recently laid off a significant number of contractors which flooded the market with engineers having similar skills. These contractors would have ended up touting for the same jobs and inevitably there would be sacrifices; lower rates, less interesting jobs or perhaps longer commutes.

There is no harm in keeping your ears open to avoid being taken by surprise and even explore opportunities that are more secure. A useful trait is to be one step ahead and beating any possible rush.

Watch out for folding umbrellas in the storm

If we do enter a recession it is inevitable that companies will fold, Umbrellas included. If you use such a service, consider what you’d stand to loose if yours went under. Would it be a month or a week’s income? Perhaps you could change your arrangements with your umbrella to be paid weekly to minimize the impact of the worst happening.

If you want to go a step further to protect your income then having your own limited company is probably the safest option. The real benefit here is that you are in full control of your income and by using a service such as inniAccounts the experience of running a business doesn’t have to be painful.

Whatever you opt for, invoice frequently, monitor payments and as soon as you see the first sign of late payments, be alert.

Start saving (more)

Perhaps you consider yourself a good saver but there may still be opportunities to save a bit more. Are you paying for a gym membership and only going 4 times a month? Perhaps find a ‘pay as you go’ gym to save a few pounds. The more cash in the bank the less stressful any time out of work will be, and at the moment it may pay to have a slightly bigger buffer than normal.

Make yourself and your job as indispensable as possible

What if your client has to loose 50% of their contractor workforce? It is common for lists of contractors to be drawn up to assess who goes and who stays – make sure you’re on the right one. During tough times you need to put in 110%. Build trust, offer help rather than be asked, take on extra work, deliver high quality results, keep your promises and stay friendly with your client.

Sometimes things are easy for you to do that are difficult for your clients, which mean a lot if you can be seen to be helping out. Don’t forget that these tough times affect pretty much everyone and your clients are probably struggling due to budget and resource cuts, schedule pressures etc. Doing little things for free will nearly always pay off.

Network like crazy

Strive to build a network with everything you do. Over the years you’ll meet so many people and each one is a prospective future client or has a link to one. Keep a list and if you’ve not spoken for a while give them a call to catch up – you never know where the conversation may go.

Whenever you get the opportunity, give out your business card and always ask for theirs. You’ve no idea what happens to the cards you hand out, but those you collect are potential lifelines to future contracts. Don’t always think about what they can do for you, perhaps you can do something for them such as refer a potential client and you never know when the favour may be returned.

The internet is the biggest network out there. There are plenty of networking groups, be they business or social but they are buzzing today more then ever. The likes of LinkedIn are free and powerful tools that are perfect for meeting new people and keeping in touch.

Make it easy to do business with you.

Understand your clients needs and be even more flexible than normal. Maybe your client can see budgets or contractor headcount cuts ahead and can’t afford a full time contractor. Perhaps you could agree part time support, work from your home office so not to be on the headcount or fixed price contracts.

Get a bit on the side

The internet is more useful than ever for sourcing work. Websites have started to appear such as oDesk and Elance where you can bid for work. They are not just limited to IT work either, there is a broad range from engineering drawings, technical reports through to marketing literature and freelance PR. It is a great opportunity to perhaps try something new, as you can bid for the work at a competitive rate and develop new skills along with gaining other revenue streams.

Be ready to act

If you did find yourself out of work, how quickly could you find new opportunities, get advice or find out what’s happening in the market? Our advice is to keep alert and be ready to react. Start by keeping up with current affairs and collect bookmarks of useful website – job sites, contractor forums, industry and market news, networking sites etc.

It’s good practice to keep on top of your CV and portfolio. There’s plenty of guidance on writing CVs and during difficult times you need to make sure that yours stands out. Make sure it sells you well, it’s concise and professional. If this isn’t your strength, either perfect it through plenty of research on good CVs or consider paying for a professional to do it for you. It could pay for itself very quickly.

Think outside of the box

You may be able to avoid the competitive frenzy of jobseekers by looking for market niches that could be underserved or an untapped opportunity. It may mean a small sacrifice on rates in the short term (which is almost inevitable during a recession) but in the longer term greater opportunities could be waiting.

A quiet time is also the best time to pursue past ideas you’ve just been too busy to explore. Dust them off, think hard about new ones and make best use of your time. Could you hold the key to the next big internet idea or the solution to the world’s green energy needs?

Don’t forget that during this time people are hunting for work, and sometimes at knock down rates. Perhaps you have an idea but are short on skills to make it happen. How about putting packages on oDesk for others to complete? Maybe you have an idea for the next big mobile phone service or iPhone application?

These are difficult times but they will pass and things will get better, so stay positive! In the meantime, put what you need to in place to survive and focus on the positive opportunities the corner. Good Luck!

Web design is an art. There’s no question about that. The question is: how many websites designed by real web designers are out there? With the amount of crap that purely invades the Internet and suffocates the users nowadays, there are serious reasons to doubt that web design is an art in its own right.

So called web designers create terrible made for AdSense sites, or those awful personal pages that have nothing to say. But the Internet is a World and you should expect to find, as in the real world, tones of nonsense and digital rubbish. Such websites have no real value, are full of grammatical errors, respect no design techniques, blend colors, fonts and graphics irrationally, display flashy banners, annoying gifs and so on. Sites like these make people believe that it is ok to put up a website even if it is lousy. Anyone can start a website, but, can anyone design a website? Obviously not, since new websites appear online every day that are not good at all.

Web design combines traditional arts with technical skills. A web designer is not just a web coder: he or she is an artist able to understand the value of image and other visual elements, and knows what impact these might have on the viewers. The web designer works with images and words to create the perfect web layout. To create unique websites, the kind of websites that really add value to the World Wide Web, skilled web designers use various tools. They might retouch pictures and graphics or create astonishing images using programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Jasic Paint, Photo Impact and so on. They might use 3D software or Flash to design dramatic layouts that will transport the visitors into another world. No matter what tools they employ, professional web designers create functional, astonishing web pages.

Don’t believe that web design, as an art, is not for business, corporate or informative websites. As a matter of fact they need it the most. While business and informational websites don’t need to be artistic, they need to inspire. Corporate websites need clear designs, simple layouts so that any visitor could access the information fast and understand the purpose of the website. To create a website that sends the right message and develops brand awareness in an agreeable manner is an art. A good website can sell a service or products, but this doesn’t mean that its appearance should fade. Compare a website to a car: you need it to transport your visitors through a space full of information. You don’t want them to be bored by what you have to offer. You want to entertain them, to mesmerize their minds, to make them come back. What it will be: a Hollywood like limousine or a second hand car? Yes, it’s true: it’s not the car that matters, but the ride. However, when you travel in an uncomfortable seat you might not enjoy the ride. And doesn’t anyone dream for a first-class ticket?

After all this being said, you do not have to hire a web designer to build a great site in today’s online world. Web design is an art, but with the advent of the new high power website builders, anyone can create a high quality website for a fraction of the cost of hiring a web designer. This is especially true of web building programs that are template driven.

Online web building programs using this “template driven” technology allow the user to make their website using professionally designed templates. This means the “art” of web design has already been done. The user simply chooses their template, adds their own content and photos, and in a matter of hours or days, a HIGH QUALITY website is created!

Don’t be fooled. Not all website builders are the same. Make sure you use a website builder that includes ecommerce capabilities without an additional charge. One such program is HighPowerSites.

In conclusion: You can hire a skilled, talented web designer to create your business website but you will pay a high price as web designers are not cheap. Or you can use a top notch web building program for a fraction of the cost. You’ll need to pay the price for either one, but high quality websites don’t come cheap. If you are serious about doing business online, you should invest in your website, like we’ve done at Canadian Freelancing. The future belongs to those that provide for quality on the World Wide Web.

So, a friend of yours is sporting a brand new cell phone packed with more features than you can shake a stick at. The thing looks like it just fell out of a flying saucer, or something. In fact, it’s quite possibly the coolest cell phone you’ve ever seen. You want one just like it, or better yet, a cooler one, but you don’t have that kind of dough. So, what’s one to do? Instead of listing a bunch of phones that are in my opinion, “cool”, I’m going to show you where to look, what to look for, and how to get it for very little, or no money.

Best Place to Find Deals on Cell Phones

Here’s a little factoid for you. There are only three authorized retailers of cellular phones and wireless plans in the United States. I know what you’re thinking. There are thousands of cellular retail websites online. True enough, but only three authorized retailers, which are the fulfillment centers for every other U.S. based cellular site online, so that cuts your places to look to three. Amazon.com, Wirefly, and Let’sTalk.

You could also go directly to a carrier website like AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-mobile or others, but if you want to save some money on a new cell phone you’re better off to stick with one of the retailers mentioned, because they deal in bulk. You can still choose from any wireless carrier that services your area, it’s just that by going through a retailer instead of directly through the carrier you’ll have a much larger selection of wireless devices, plus be able to compare phones and plans from multiple providers.

Coolest Cell Phone Features

It’s best to get into a little cell phone terminology here, because getting the right kind of cell phone is going to make a difference in features available on that phone, so here is a list of a few common types of wireless devices, and short descriptions.

PDA Phones – The term PDA is an abbreviation for Personal Digital Assistant, and is used for mobile organization like phone book, calendar, daily tasks, and can be synchronized with a PC. They sometimes come with a stylus, and may require a mobile data plan.

Smart Phones – For all intents and purposes a Smart Phone or smartphone is a PDA with cell phone capabilities, and can work very much like a small computer. In the early days many PDAs did not make it possible for one to make phone calls (though most do now).

Netbooks - These are not phones at all. They’re mini laptops, but some wireless carriers, and retailers make them available for use with modern mobile data networks.

Multimedia Phones – Just a cell phone, but may be able to take pictures, video or play music files like MP3.

There are a lot of other terms that can be, and are used to describe different types of cellular phones. Texting phones, data phones, qwerty phones, just to name a few. The list above is a pretty good outline of different cell phone types without writing a book about the subject. If you want a phone with a good all around set of features, a smartphone is the way to go. If you’re just looking for features on a case by case basis, here are a few of the most popular.

Data Plans – These can be a bit tricky, since nearly all wireless phones today allow you to access the Internet, but if you want broadband speeds you’ll need a mobile data plan, and a phone that supports modern 3G (third generation) networks and higher. Most likely a PDA or smartphone.

QWERTY Keyboard – The term “QWERTY” comes from the fact those are the first six letters on a standard English keyboard (take a look). Non PDA and smartphone phones with qwerty keyboards are ofter referred to as texting phones.

Mobile Web Browsers – Almost all phones now have some sort of mobile browser so you can surf the Internet from your cell phone, but they’re not all created equal. BlackBerry has an excellent full web browser built in, as does Apple’s iPhone which comes with Safari. You can always download third party mobile browsers, but you’ll need a phone that will support it.

Bluetooth – This is a must have for any cell phone worth having. In short, Blutooth makes it possible for your cell phone to communicate wirelessly with other devices that have, or support it. Common applications are, hands free driving, and wireless synchronization.

Web Applications – Some phones come with software you might normally find on your computer, like email clients, messengers, calendars, or productivity suites like Documents to go, or Windows Mobile. There are also lots of other third party apps you can download. BlackBerry and iPhone have very popular app stores with a wide selection of mobile apps made for those phones.

Cameras – If you want good pictures and video from your phone, try to steer clear of VGA, QVGA or cameras with interpolated resolution. You’ll want a camera with about 3 megapixel or better for nice looking pictures and video. Generally speaking, the more megapixels the better.

Touch Screens – This is still a fairly new technology. Some touch screen phones have very few buttons on the phone itself, since most tasks, including typing and dialing are done directly on the screen. A couple good examples are the BlackBerry Storm, and iPhone.

There are dozens of other features that could be discussed here, but the idea is just to outline some of the cooler features to look for, and some short explanations and examples. A cell phone with all, or most of the features listed here is going to be a really nice phone.

Cheapest Cell Phones

So how do you get one of these really cool phones without breaking the bank? By going through an authorized retailer, of course. As mentioned earlier there are only three in the U.S. you need to be concerned with. Some phones could be free or highly discounted with a service agreement of between one to two years. If you don’t like contracts, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s that, or pay out of pocket. If you choose the later, you could still get a good deal by going through one of the big three retailers. Since they sell these phones in bulk, they are generally cheaper than what you would find in a physical store, or direct from the carrier.

So, what, exactly, will you be doing? What is expected of you? If you’re like most people, you want to know up front what is going to be expected of you. While it’s a general rule that your role in the company will be listed with the job, it’s good to know what you’re responsibilities will be.

The term “data entry” can be misleading. Many people believe all the job requires is typing into a template anything sent to them. That’s only part of it. Data entry requires a good eye, attention to detail, and the other aspect of the job is to point out any errors there may be in the data given to you.

“Wait,” you say. “I thought this was a typical work from home job!” It is not a picnic when you are looking at work at home jobs. They include actual work and work time. The company isn’t paying you to just sit around and enter data only when you feel like it – at your leisure and at your own pace. You’ll need to think and apply your knowledge to what you’re assignment is.

Therefore, you’ll need to look for mistakes in data, such as whether something is in error, or there is wrong data. Naturally, sometimes you won’t understand, or know, what something means. If this is the case, you’ll need to examine the data and get in touch with your supervisor immediately to rectify it if it is, indeed, in error.

People working in writing, editing, and proofreading, need to have an intensely keen eye. You’ll need to see spelling, grammar, and structural mistakes at first glance, because if you miss something there is a good chance the company will find someone else who’s better at doing the job. You’ll either be given less important, lower paying jobs, or you’ll find yourself out of work. In terms of actual writing assignments, you’re going to need to adapt to every style of writing you’re given. That means that if you have to write an article on business, you’ll need to write in a business style; the same is true of any other genre.

Also, you will need to do the proper research. Never write ANYTHING you know nothing about. All it takes is a quick trip online and you’re set. Some basic facts and information on a specific subject is all you’ll need to write the article.

Probably the toughest work at home position is that of a medical transcriber. Absolute correctness is a must, and if you make a mistake there can be grave consequences not only for the patient whose information messed up, but for you and your employment status. The requirement is to take all of the information you’re given, and, by listening carefully, writing down everything the doctor, nurse, or physician’s assistant says in the recording. Because you’ll need to be familiar with medical terms, doctor’s offices are looking for people who have experience with medical terminology.

It’s easy to get lost in what you have to do, so make sure your job details are clearly explained. And of course, you NEED to ask questions if you don’t understand something.

If you are looking for best work at home jobs or seeking helpful tips to find perfect internet business ideas conforming your ability, skill, and education, Canadian Freelancing can provide you with best advice and invaluable information to implement your own work at home business idea on the internet, the way you want.

Freelance writing can be a great job that offers a flexible schedule, freedom of time and place for work, and for those writers who learn and adapt, a really good living, as well. One of the problems that many beginning, and sometimes even experienced, freelance writers run into is that pure writing ability isn’t the only measure of who makes the most money writing and who makes the least. In other words, there’s a lot more to being a writer than the actual writing.

There are many mistakes that good writers make that holds them back from really making all they could with their freelance writing work. The following are three of the main mistakes that freelance writers make, particularly online writers.

Freelance Writing Mistake #1: One article means one sale. This is a huge mistake that far too many writers make. If “The Atlantic Monthly” is paying you $5,000 for a single 1,000 word article, that’s one thing, but most freelance writers aren’t making that money. Since you do so much research for one article, learn to write and re-write that article to spin several original articles out of one assignment. Why write one “how to” blog post, when you can re-write that same information for a new article on eHow, one for Constant Content, and another for Associated Content. Great freelancers learn how to get more money for the same amount of work.

Freelance Writing Mistake #2: Staying loyal to one website. I’ve seen this advice given to beginning online writers, and it is terrible advice. First of all, look at mistake #1. Second, if you’re on a site that pays absolute peanuts for your writing, you are far better off leaving them for better paying markets where you can earn what your writing really deserves.

Freelance Writing Mistake #3: Not being flexible. Having a niche is great. I’ve done very well writing poker articles, something I’m familiar with since I’m also an amateur player. But if I was only a poker writer, I would also be a very poor writer. The more types and styles of writing you are willing to learn, the more jobs that are open to you and the more money you can make as a freelance writer.

Those three mistakes have prevented some very good writers from becoming full time freelance writers, and has limited the profits of even some full time freelancers. If you are looking to be an effective freelance writer, make sure you’re not making these three common mistakes and your bottom line is sure to improve!
